All Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Service personnel with Hartselle Fire Department meets the requirements under the Alabama Radiological Emergency Plan, and has successfully completed training for a personnel and equipment monitor emergency worker.
Hartselle Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Service is One Hundred (100) percent compliant with Homeland Security Directive (HSPD)-5, the President Dierctive to develop and administer a National Incident Management System (NIMS), which would provide a consistent nationwide approach for Federal, State, Local, and Tribal Governments to work together more effectively and efficiently to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from domestic incidents. Adopted by the City of Hartselle, Alabama with Resolution No: 05-0726.
Hartselle Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Service Department receives derection and procedures from a designated off-line Medical Director. The physicians licensed by the State of Alabama and assigned off-line medical directors for Hartselle fire in providing Emergency, Non-Emergency and other life safety services are Dr. Frank Benson, M.D. and Dr. George Weatherly, M.D.
In an ongoing effort to provide the maximum level of professionalism and expertise the staff of HFD is at all times training. Whether in or out of the classroom we are always looking for new and better ways to serve our Citizens. At the present time we have 20 Firefighter I & II certifications, 16 HAZMAT A&O certifications, 12 HAZMAT Technicians, 16 Aparatus Operator Pumper, 16 Aparatus Operator Aerial, 16 Fire Instructor I, 2 Fire Instructor II, 13 Fire Officer I, 9 Fire Officer II, 12 Fire Investigator, 17 Fire Inspector I, 3 Public Fire Educator I & II, 2 Airport Firefighter, 1 Rescue Techinician Rope, 1 Rescue Technician Confined Space, 6 Fire Department Safety Officer, 19 Alabama Licenesed EMT-B, and 6 Health and Safety Officer.
