Hartselle Shining Stars

Shining Stars Mission Statement

The mission of Hartselle Shining Stars, a therapeutic program offered by Hartselle Parks and Recreation, is to improve the quality of life for people with physical and/or intellectual challenges by offering recreational programs and events.  This program will encourage acceptance and respect in a safe and noncompetitive environment.  The program is dedicated to providing individuals aged 6 and older with fun opportunities to fellowship with their peers and to be recognized for their different abilities.  Hartselle Shining Stars strives to offer the participants a feeling of connection, self-reliance, and a sense of belonging through the program.

Hartselle Shining Stars is a program designed by Hartselle Parks and Recreation for individuals with special needs.  The program is open to individuals with physical and mental disabilities from ages 6 years and older. We offer a wide variety of activities and sports leagues.  Currently, we offer basketball, softball and bowling leagues.  We also offer summer day camp, family game nights, craft classes, pageant, dances and more.  Each event provides a safe environment for these individuals to gather together for fellowship and fun with their peers.  If you would like more information about the program or would like to become a volunteer, please reach out to us at 256-773-2581 or email smccormick@hartselle.org.  Please follow Hartselle Shining Stars on Facebook to keep up with upcoming events.
